Great book to read if you find the bible a little daunting - By: A. Russell, 06 Jun 2005
I've recently been exploring my faith a lot more - doing the Alpha course & reading faith building materials. I've had several crack at trying to read the bible & always fail pretty early on - the meaning doesn't get through & the text can be hard to stick with. However .... enter the 'Street Bible' - this really got the meaning across to me - had me hooked, interested & genuinely wanting to read more - stuck with it every day & finished it a week or two ago - can see myself coming back to this to read it through again - something I can rarely do with any book. If you want to get a taste of the bible & have struggled like myself with the text itself then this is the book for you. It covers the old & new testaments & although there is a lot of paraphrasing & I dare some skipping over some bits it certainly had a wonderful effect on me.
The Street Bible - By: , 08 Dec 2004
fantastic book, well written for children & adults alike. All my children aged 9 to 15 enjoyed reading the book & I have read parts of it myself & become engrossed. It is very easy to read, is fun & very laughablein places. Helps children gain an understanding of the bible without having to delve straight into the big book. I would recommend this book to any family trying to find a bible that kids will want to read. It should be a best seller.
Does exactly what it says on the tin! - By: , 03 Jun 2004
When I bought this book I must admit I was a little bit dubious. I mean, the Bible with verses missed out? Paraphrased? But then I read the back & was told that this wasn't the Bible (big B), but just a taster to help you get into the real thing. And that's exactly what it did.
I'm 16 years old & studying for my GCSEs, but I got this book last Friday, started at Genesis 1:1 & am now at the end of Psalms. This is living proof as to how exciting & gripping this 'Street bible' really is. It definately helps you get into God's Word & shows you happy, sad, angry or dissapointed voicesin the story that you never saw before.
I recommend this to anyone!

This book speaks the biblein a language to inspire, It makes the biblecome to life, you can imagine beingin church & the emotions beingplayed out for you rather than the plain documentation of the normalversion. I recommend it to anyone religious or not.
The Word on the Street - By: T L Gibbs, 20 Apr 2004
The re-telling of a familiar storyin everyday language is compelling. It echoes the street Greek usedin the 1st Century., simple, direct & expressive. This freshness gives the story a vibrancy that can be lostin the more litery styles of conventional versions. The language used can be heardin conversations on the street & this gives the book appeal. It is how many people talk to each other today. The publication deserves the widespread acclaim it has already received.
