Chick lit at its best - By: Andrea Smith, 22 Sep 2008
This book is excellent & holds your interest throughout. A bit of chick-lit entwined with a murder mystery, it is easy ro read whilst still being thoroughly engaging. I read it on the beach & couldn't put it down (cue burnt shoulders). I haven't read Daddy's Girls yet but it's on my list of books to read...
Passable light entertainment... - By: LittleReader, 03 Aug 2008
Just like 'Daddy's girls', I found 'Gold Diggers' mildly entertaining for the most part & I must begrudgingly admit thatin terms of characterisation, it's an improvement on the debut.
Littered with grammatical errors (and I'm certainly no expert, but some were really obvious & should have been edited out) & consumed by irritating name dropping at every turn, TP just does not seem to be getting it right... The whole novel smacks of trying too hard.
I did like the story & I certainly didn't read this book expecting to have to think deeply about any subliminal messages - it does what it promises to do - butin terms of racy, pacy bonkbusters it is decidedly below par.
Ok for the beach but watching the localsin tiny swimshorts will probably entertain you more & the hotel pool will have more depth...
A book to be avoided - By: Katong Girl, 19 Jul 2008
What an awful book! Ms. Perry's earlier attempt, whilst not exactly great literature, was mildly entertaining. This is one of the most unnecessary books I've readin a long time. Just can't believe anyone wanted to publish this banal, superficial, poorly-written story. The characters had no depth, the plot was disconnected & the final outcome completely unbelievable. But then I suppose a publisher which takes as little care with its editing & proof-reading as this one could be expected to bring out such trash. Shame on you HarperCollins! Heads should rollin your editing department! Don't bother with this book....it really is a dud.
Fantastic read.............. - By: Lulu, 20 Jun 2008
I could not put this book down! I have recently read Daddy's Girls & this book surpasses it by miles! There are so many twists & plots it has you guessing from the front page to the end. Can't wait to read the new book!
Good story poorly edited! - By: Christine Green, 27 May 2008
How very disappointing to find this second book of Tasmina Perry treated with so little care & attention. There are repeated words, repeated phrases & such glaring editing errors that it spoiled the reading for me. I just wished I had kept a pen nearby & marked the bumpy areas. Every author relies on her editor to smooth these out - not this time! The plot was good & one felt empathy for some of the characters & the right amount of disinterestin the main female. I kept feeling I SHOULD have supported her & then realised I wasn't supposed to! Very clever!
