Solid Gold Hero - By: Chubworth, 21 Feb 2008
This book has one shining message - that Eric Morecambe evoked such love & affection from all who knew him & all who knew of him that there can be no greater tribute. If you cn find it, try to get hold of footage of him on a Christmas World of Sport with his old mate Dickie "The Mallen Streak" Davies. It's inspired TV & very little shown despite the beautiful anarchy.
Wonderful Biography - By: KiwiGirl, 30 Dec 2007
I thought it was great - & mine had *all* the pagesin tact! For those missing 187-192 they were: photo of the boys & Joanna Lumley & a letter of condolence to Joan from Russ Abbott: The remaining pages are photocopies of letters of condolences from people such as Penelope Keith, Judy Dench, Henry Cooper, Peter Bowles & many others.
classic collection - By: Royale, 10 Jan 2007
This is a great book from William Cook (who also did two great books on Peter Cook, & one on Peter Cook & Dudley Moore). The words are relatively familiar, but it is the stunning memorabilia & photos that make this a must for fans of the comedy legend. Well worth adding to the collection. And apparently there is another to follow this year on both Eric AND Ernie. If I have one snipe, it is that the bookin paperback format is slightly small. Been better ifin full coffee-table size. But it didn't dampen my pleasure much.
Bringing back the sunshine! - By: Royale, 31 Jan 2006
I got this as a Christmas gift & as a lifelong fan of the great double act, was thrilled at the new photos spanning some seven decades! There must be over two hundred photosin the book plus loads of memorabillia. Well worth having for any fan of British comedy, or those interestedin the history of light entertainment. Apparently there's another book donein the same style of Eric & Erniein the not too distant future, according to an interview I heard. Already looking forward to it.
A Bit Extra for Fans - By: , 17 Jan 2006
I got the book this Christmas & enjoyed the photographsin particular.Look out for the picture of Eric with his mother-in-law,both with their spectacles off-set.
As has been said by other reviewers, the text covers most of what you will have heard before;but it is always worth reading a different writer's take.As an introduction to Eric Morecambe & his life & career it is excellent, particularly at this price for a hardback.
