Disappointing - By: Oscar, 29 Dec 2008
I lost interestin this book - although I did persevere to the end - & was so disappointed after the joy of escaping into Going Home & Hopeless Romantic. The plot device whereby you know at the outset that something earth-shattering has happened & then spend the novel unravelling it was a bit of a let-down & few of the characters engaged me.
I loved Going Home so much (the ultimate Christmas comfort read) that my expectations were for this one were perhaps a bit too high. Hope there's anotherin the pipeline as I think Harriet Evans' writing usually has great humour & interest.
A bit of a drag... - By: H. Minns, 23 Dec 2008
This was my first Harriet Evans book I'd read. Although I enjoyed the book & loved the character Mac, it took me ages to get into. I put the book down for days without picking it up again & nearly gave up. I found the main character Kate annoying & her best friend Zoe even more irritating. The Kate & Mac story dragged on & on & some of the book was fairly dull. I finally got into it once the main event happened & enjoyed it once it picked up. Without giving too much away, I then found what happened to Kate & Zoe's friendship not very believable.
I don't think I'd read another Harriet Evans book after this one turned out to be a disappointment.
harreit does it again.... - By: CJ Price, 11 Dec 2008
this novel is by far the best book i have readin a while! i loved it from start to finish! it is definately the best novel by harriet evans, having read her previous novels, going home & a hopeless romantic. This novel is full of suspense, humour, tears & joy! i even cried at the climax of the novel! its gripping from start to finish....you wont be able to put it down! would highly reccomend it. i passed it straight onto my colleague, & she loved it also!
Okay - By: Lovin romance and chick lit!, 24 Nov 2008
This was quite an emotional read & I have to admit that I did cryin some parts of it. Having said this though, like Hopeless Romantic, some parts dragged on & were quite dull. But unlike Hopeless Romantic, it didn't have a freshness that wasin Hopeless Romantic that made me love it. If you do want to read this book, I would recommend that you read Hopeless Romantic first because this book, although okay, wouldn't make you want to read anymore of Harriet Evans' books.
An easy read which is very moving - By: stacey987, 24 Sep 2008
This book is perfect for those days when you want a nice easy, pleasurable read. However, there is also a darker side to the story that is very moving & once revealed makes you look at the story & charactersin a whole new light. Me & my mum both really enjoyed this book & would recommend it
