The Collins Phrase books (I have used several of the new editions including French, Spanish & Italian while travelling around Europe) are great. They are easily navigable with colour coding for different sections - all the essentials you need for getting by on holiday - shopping, using transport, accommodation, top tips - my favourite bit though, & that which I couldn't do with out, is the awesome menu reader! By far my favourite part of the any holiday is eating & the format is nice & compact so can fitin your handbag/purse easily. They're really discreet for bringing out at the dinner table, pretty much fittingin your hand, & avoiding the truly obvious tourist look! They're good & cheap too so I will be picking one up for any relevant country I visit.
