I am an atheist marrying into a Hindu family & found this book invaluable. When I asked my future in-laws how I could learn about Hinduism I was told it would take more than one lifetime, which struck me as rather daunting!

This book has managed to fit the salient points into a readable format, & I have also managed to pick up bits of information that my partner was unaware of thus enabling us to discuss various aspects of the faith.

Written by a Western author, Linda Johnson is clearly knowledgeable about Hinduism having spent a lot of timein India researching. Her style is full of fun & very readable with asides on every pagein 4-types of balloons which are apt & relevant; I am a Hindu livingin UK; I liked it & would recommend it to any Western audience unreservedly!
