My brother was given this set of little books by our uncle, who livedin the States, when it was first publishedin 1962. He was four years old. It became a firm favouritein our home. My brother - the original recipient of the books - now livesin New York, & I asked him to send me copies first of all for my son, & then for the children of friends. I am still ordering copies & distributing them around the world - so far to New Delhi & Cape Town. The appeal of Maurice Sendak's enduring illustrations is universal & the miniature library of little books holds the same attraction now as it did when first published almost 40 years ago. In our family the original set is a bit of an heirloom.

My mom bought this for me when I was a child & we read them so much we wore them out. The second set she bought was for my children & we are well on our way to the third set. Nutshell means just that - child sized books that look just like Mom sized ones. We read all four 'lil books' every night. Your kids will love them too.
