Excellent book and supplement - By: lj, 23 Jun 2007
I was unfortunate enough to land with Dorf & Bishops Modern Control Systems as the required textbook for my introductory classin control systems. Fortunately I decided to buy this book,in equal parts due to my frustration with Dorf & the small price of this book. It was well worth the money.
Due to this text things that I had readin Dorf which made no sense at first began to fall into place. This text does an excellent job of explaining concepts, from the concepts of control engineering & modelling of a multitude of systems, to how these systems are analysed with nyquist, bode plots & root locus methods & how to regulate te system using the same methods. There are plenty of good illustrations to aidin this.
Asin all booksin the Schaums series there are plenty of solved problems although they are not always as difficult as you would like compared to some you may encounterin your class. In short I do not think I would recommend this as a stand alone text but it is invaluable as a supplementary text, & can, if need be, be used by itself.
Well worth it - By: John Wallace, 02 Nov 2004
If you're taking Control as an undergraduate course, & need some extra help, then this book is well worth it. Not only does it cover the main topicsin detail, but it has plenty of worked examples to show the principlesin practice.
