Nice book, good story!! - By: , 21 Jun 1999
I was required to read this novel for my English course. In the book Mildred Taylor depicts the life of a little black girlin the 1930's with the utmost detail. The writer shows that you must first have pridein who you are before you take any further actions. It was so sad & touching yet so triumphant. Through this book, the life of an Afro Americanin the thirties fully shines through. The book also shows the inequality & hatred that fills each persons mind. I really enjoyed reading it.
Lovely book and well written - By: , 30 May 1999
I loved to read this book. It was well written & tells a heartbreaking story. The innocents of a black young girl who doesn't understand why she is treated so different then the white kids. I almost felt sorry it had to be explainded to her. I wish we didn't have to tell our chideren that there is a difference between black & white.
This book is a perfect example of excellent literature. - By: , 05 Jan 1999
This has always been one of my personal favorites. Cassie Logan, along with her family, must over come the extreme difficulties of being a black familyin the 1930's, a time of pure prejudice. As the book goes along, the author gives suspence & emotion to the plot, while many other intricate details are placedin to give it even more shape. The thrilling, sometimes even very emotional, story pulls you right into it, & you start to feel for the Logans'. This book gives a perfect example of our world back then, & brings us all to the reality of our past. No matter what race, age, or gender you are, this book will give you thrill from the first to the last page.

The Logan Family had a lot of problems to facein the 1930's.Durning that time white people thought of themselves as "HIGH'N'MIGHTY" & the black people as low, dirty , trash. The Logans life is interesting & I think you will like this book because it is defineatly the best book there is to read if you like reading books about the past.Mildred D.Taylor is my family's favorite Author & if you read her books I tihnk you will agree with me.There are more booksin the series just look on-line and/or go to your nearest bookstore/library & ask for books by Mildred D Taylor!
