Concise but comprehensive - very easy to understand! - By: R. WEST-SOLEY, 13 Oct 2008
This book condenses a lot of information into a small space, but doesn't scrimp on detail - it covers all the major points of larger grammars such as Wade's huge Russian Grammar tome, but is compact enough to carry roundin your pocket.
Each point is very clearly explained with a lot of vocabularyin the examples - very useful for boosting your base vocabularyin Russian as you revise / learn the grammar.
The verbs section is perhaps a little short, & you might want to supplement the book with another dedicated, more detailed verb book like The Big Silver Book of Russian Verbs: 555 Fully Conjugated Verbs (Big Book of Verbs Series), but as far as grammar guides go, you won't miss any of the important points by relying on this handy guide!
"Finest perfume in small bottle" - By: elpl, 09 Jul 2008
A well-written & well-organized book. Provides answers for many question that rise up as you learn the language. The examples are really usefulin order to understand plus the pronunciation is marked on the words.
This is a nice book which you can easily carryin your bag; however small it is, it contains so many things that you wonder how they do fitin there.
I would highly recommend it.
Excellent Resource - By: S. Dawson, 30 May 2007
Russian grammar can be complicated, but this is an excellent resource for the learner who is struggling to fully get to grips with the sometimes complicated grammar. The guide explains thingsin a clear way, with simple examples. It doesn't assume too much & is patient. Recommended for anyone serious about learning Russian.
Excellent for quick reference - By: JR Anderson, 27 Dec 2006
Russian gramar is not exactly what one would call a simple task to master, therefore you're going to need a very accessible bookin order to cope with all its intricacies. Granted, this book is relatively small (at least compared with Mr Wade's other publication on Russian grammar) but don't let that put you off. Every significant area of the language is explored to a reasonable depth although obviously there is little room for extensive verb tables given the 250 page limit. I believe, however, that the author's purpose liesin providing the reader with what is essential for them to use & improve their Russian & the book has certainly managed to achieve that. Definitely the best book available for students doing Russian for GCSE or A-Level & a worthwhile purchase for those studying the language at university. I'd advise serious learners to purchase another book on verbs (there are two excellent publications that are available here on Amazon) but still, Oxford Russian Grammar&Verbs is one of, if not THE, most helpful books I have come across.
NOT FOR NEWBIES! - By: D. Tomkin, 14 Nov 2006
Great book once you have grasped the basics of the grammar & wish to advance, I would strongly advise against this being your first Russian Book though!
Superb reference book I must say
