Not a transliteration - By: stewart white, 19 Sep 2004
The e-version as sold is not a transliteration nor does it have the hieroglyphic text so beware. It is only Budge's now somewhat outdated translation. I mention transliteration because that is specifically why I bought it.

For the real fanatic, not the amateur - By: , 16 Sep 1999
I have a great interestin Ancient Egypt, & have read a great deal about it. I thought that this book would interest me, butin fact, it's very dusty, dry & for the real academic. It must be remembered also that it was originally publishedin 1895, which makes the style seem extremely pedantic & old fashioned. Perhaps once I have done more deep research into the topic, I will come back to this book, but for now, it will gather dust on my book-shelf.
Great version of the book of the Dead - By: , 23 Jul 1997
Mr. Budge's book is a wonderfull translation, & transliteration of this famous Ancient Egyptian document. With the heiroglyphics includedin the transliteration, one is also able to study heiroglyphic translation as one reads the various chapters. Because the heiroglyphics are placedin the book as uniform graphics, the continuity of the pictures, helps the reader more efficiently follow the transliteration, thereby helping the reader deduce what symbols mean what, & thereby adding another facet to this wonderfull volume. The only drawback to this book, is the lack of photographs of the actual papyri. This problem is significantin some respects, but overall this volume is able to clearly define all of those items that the ancients felt were vital to get one (a deceased one) into the afterlife.
