This is a book that every person should read - By: , 06 Jul 1999
I read Dr. Carson's first two books & thought they were really good. But then I read The Big Picture & it was really great. I am a firm believer in the Bible but have a hard time seeing that BIG PICTURE. Ben Carson did a wonderful jobin conveying what the Big Picture is suppose to look like for those of us who have a hard time seeing it. Reading the book is one thing - doing what is saysin there is another. After reading this book, my thinking has changed & my life with it. If anybody is questioning their lifein any way, this book is a must.

This book was terrific, a page turner - By: , 11 Apr 1999
Dr. Carson is a living example that one can beat the odds regardless of one's socioeconomic status or ethnicity. The adversitities he experienced clearly paved the way for his success as a Neurosurgeon. Furthermore, he would not allow his background to become a hinderancein achieving his goals. Dr. Carson's hard work, experiences & philosophy he relates toin the book are guidelines & incentives for young people especially African American youth who believe that their goals are not attainable. Moreover, students need mentors, & road maps to followin order to reach their goals.I watch "Good Morning America" daily & saw his interview with Charlie Gibson I immediately began looking for the book, & was able to order it.The Carson Foundation is an excellent toolin which all students receive help. After reading "The Big Picture" I would recommend it to everyone I know. God Bless & keep you always. Your Sister in Christ. Marietta
Dr. Carson does it again - By: , 26 Mar 1999
This is the third book of Dr Carson that I have digested. Once again, I am impressed with the ground rules for living & parenting he is sharing with all of us. I am particularly struck that he shares my long time belief that " a growing child's brain is like a blank sheet of paper, whatever you copy on to it is what you get." The quote is mine. "The big picture" tells us a lot about the tools for parenting as well as the tools to succeed once we become grown ups. It even goes further to bring race relationsin America to a personal level leaving the politics aside. The good news is the lessons well espousedin the book on race relations can also be applied to tribal conflictsin African nations. This book should indeed be read by everybody on this planet earth.
