A book needed for today - By: Dianne M. Benz, 06 Oct 2008
I have been a christian for about 25 years & have belonged to various denominations over that time, including AOG, Methodist, Anglican, House Church & now an Elim Pentecostal & have gained many insightsin all of these churches, but never have I heard the message of grace explainedin this way,(or maybe I just wasn't listening)! This book,in the words of a famous beer advert, reaches the parts that others have not. It has opened up parts of myself that I would never have looked at,such as how legalistic I am,( & me a pentecostal!) but for some reason the way this is written has drawn mein to explore gracein a frightening but liberating way, To open up to God's grace for myself & start to receive what He has for me, not just my own small ideas. I would like to be able to buy lots of copies of this book to give to people I know.

Brilliant Book - By: Mum of 4 kids, 12 Jan 2008
This book is BRILLIANT. I wish I had found the time to read it years ago. As a committed Christian I found Yancey challenging me to reconsider many of my "evangelical assumptions". I was especially challenged regarding my attitude towards gay people & have followed this up by reading what other enlightened evangelicals have to say on the subject. Well done Yancey.
Something we all need to learn - By: Comfortably Numb, 16 Feb 2007
In 'What's So Amazing About Grace?', Philip explores grace at very much street level. If grace is God's love for the undeserving, what does it look likein action? How do we go about showing grace to those around us?
Yancey asks some difficult questions, tells some interesting stories (which are a little motherhood & apple pie at times) but also challenges us as readers as to how we outwork our faith day to day.
great book
Will change how you live your life - By: oohmercyme, 30 Sep 2006
This is my favourite book of all time- I have read it at least 8 times & each time come away with something new & feeling invigorated.
Yancy challenges the view that (sadly) many people have of Christiansin the world- that is that we are legalistic & lack compassion & love. In this book, Yancy challenges Christians to really think (and more importantly ACT)in the manner that Jesus did.
The book is full of heart-breaking stories that challenge one's thinking. I don't think you can look at the world the same again after reading this.
A must read for all Christians!
(Anything by Yancy is tops on my list)
Good book - By: Local boy in the photograph, 30 Aug 2004
This really is an eye-opening book & it WILL change the way you think & the way you approach sin your own life &in others.
However, there has been a tendencyin evangelical circles to treat this book as the 'definitive' book on Grace, which it is not. There are certain trains of thought which I do not agree with wholly, namely the suggestion that judgement of sin should be disregardedin favour of acceptance. That to me deviates too far away from scriptual teaching.
That aside, this is a thoroughly good read. Everyone should read it at least once!
