Gaultry, the hedge witch, discovers that she is someone other than she had thought. Not only is her great-aunt her grandmother, but she & her twin sister are pivotal pieces of the puzzle of prophecy. Somehow they are destined to make or break the kingdom they live in.
Danger, romance & humor are all ingredientsin this book. The book is an easy read. Somehow it did not catch my attention the way McKillip or Hobb are able to do. Having said that, I did enjoy the book & read it through. It was OK, but not great.

Wind from a Foreign Sky is the first book I have read by Katya Reimann, but it won't be the last. The story of Gaultry Blas & her twin sister Mervion was so well told, that I found myself frantically racing through the book's pages. I couldn't read it fast enough! Reimann's personal brand of magic was refreshing. I have read a lot of fantasy, but can't think of even one other book that has used magicin quite this way. The idea of a witch that can draw out an animal's spirit (in order to strengthen herself & gain that animal's characteristics) is an excellent one.
Buy this book & then search for the othersin the series. I bought the other books second-hand using the Marketplace & will be reading them straight away.
