Great story telling - By: N. Ball, 06 Jun 2006
This is a book to come back to time & time again. First puiblishedin the 60's it still feels new. The characters are good & you want to know what happens to them.
You need to add the Lavalite world to this to complete the story.
forgot how it happened - By: , 09 Jul 2004
The first page will have its way with you. Once the seduction is complete you will give your mind over to the author for reconditioning. By the time it's over you will resemble something like a dummy spitting brat with a "Matrix" hangover & a longing for something that you know exists but stubbornly refuses to show itself.
You may become the fool you have always been afraid of...promises, promises... or perhaps the daily ritual that has become life for most of us will reveal itself to be a mere backdrop for the adventure that is real life.
You may begin to remember a time when you were a Godin a drunken bar & you controlled the sway of your vision by simply recognizing that it - your vision - is just another option. You will be sober again someday & that is your salvation.
Science-fiction/fantasy is the catagory or slot where someone just had to stick it. 'World of tiers' combines the standards of that catagory with the things that we tend to forget to think about: What is our origin? Why is it important to us? Is it important to us? Who is the real hero?
As the 20th century continues to grow impatient we seem to be sacrificing our memory & our ability to think clearly.
Now days even water is not clear enough unless it has been sold to you. When did that happen?
This book will always be there to remind those who can grasp the coat tails of the past - as it dissapears from our value scale - that this is what we have forgotten. You may one day find yourself standing there with a vague look on your face tightly gripping somethingin your hands that you will never recognize. Who cares?
THE BEST ADVENTURE NOVEL EVER - By: , 01 Mar 2001
Great story, great characters, great ideas, great style. Only weakness: too abrupt end, at the end of every book you want to know more
