I jumpedin at book no. 2in the series (this one). It wasn't difficult toget into the plot & the book moved along at a sedate pace. It was a fairread, but no bestsellerin my eyes.
Dowager Ysa is a meddler & wants everyone to dance to her tune. Ashen isslightly pathetic. She has potential to be something else, but it does notcome to fruitionin this book. She is, of course, the protagonistin thisbook. She marries, then marries again, has a stepchild & tries to dealwith her placein life.
The war against the Great Foulness is pressing closer, & seems to beinevitable. Everything is influenced by the Great Foulness. Winter sets infor good - no summer & sunshine, only cold.
