I agree with the majority of the other reviewers, Patricia Cornwell is now back on track properly since 'The Last Precinct'. The characters are clear, the writing is understandable & for the majority of the time, believable. I really enjoyed this book & can't wait to find out what the next installment is like. I hope that Cornwell doesn't move them again, as she has done with her last few novels.
I'd started to think that Patricia Cornwell had lost her edge & flair, but now she is giving Kathy Reichs a good run for her money!

The early Scarpetta books were great but her recent novels have been a complete waste of time. The plots & characters are unbelievable & the writing disjointed. I bought this bookin the hope that she might have improved, & she has - just a bit - but certainly not enough for me to give her another chance.

When it comes to the Scarpetta series Cornwell never disapoints. Thrilling to the end!
I don't like to write about the plot as it's more exciting for you to find out for yourself, personally I only want to know if it's liked or not. This is loved!
Just finished it - it's a cracker!!! - By: Walshylass, 02 Jan 2009 I have read all the Scarpetta novels, & this is up there as one of the best, I loved it. I'm not sure you could easily join the series at this stage though - you could, but it would make more sense if you'd read the preceding books.
Great story - if a bit unusual - & the character interaction was well crafted.
Get it! Read it!
Scarpetta - By: J. C. Cortese, 28 Dec 2008 Finally the author has come to her senses & returned to writingin the manner that made her famous & her books impossible to put down. Though not as good as Body Farm & Point of Origin, it still is a good read. Let's hope the next one will deserve 5 stars.
