Thomas does it by the numbers- By: , 20 Nov 2000 As a fan of Craig Thomas' older books I approached this with eager anticipation. Bad move. On it's own, it's not bad, butin comparison to his earlier work it's very much a by-the-numbers thriller hamstrung by the uncanny sequence of coincidences that drive the plot along. Too many of the protagonists are known to one anotherin advance leading to predictable scenes of betrayal with deadly consequences. I seem to recall the author used to teach soin summary I say: "4 out of 10, could do better!"One coincidence too many spoils a well crafted tale- By: , 03 Sep 1999 Thomas's super agent, Patrick Hyde, once again proves that multinational corporations & corrupt governments are no match for one man on a mission. This is the usual Craig Thomas mix of exotic locations, spycraft & dirty deeds as the true cost of a new holiday complex carved out of the jungle is revealed. What spoils the book is the oppressive weight of coincidences that bring the protagonists together - particularly the presence of Hyde's partner at riskin the danger zone.
