The City, Not Long After brings together all that is bestin science fiction. Set 16 years after a mystery virus has wiped out most of humanity, Pat Murphy paints a vivid picture of survivors rebuilding their lives & shaping their societyin to a good place to live. Art & expression is core to this new social order, & although not paradises the needs of the individual are held as sacred as those of the whole.
However outside the city a power hungry ex-army General begins enforcing his idea of society. As his power gains momentum he turns his attention to the city, & his plans grow to conquer this fragile community.
As war approaches, the people within the city fight the only way they know how. Artifice, LSD & face paint, against guns & tanks.
With a rich mixture of well-written characters the reader is drawnin with ease to this tight knit group. Blending art with magic & belief with history; you are carried through the story of the struggle for survival faced be this most likeable of communities.
Come to the city, not long after & spend some time with Danny Boy, Jax, Skin & The Machine. Your visit will leave you with a lasting memory of the way things could be, & the lessons we need to learn.
