A rather slow-paced story, low on entertainment value. A far, far better novelin this arena is Glenn Kleier's "The Last Day." Both approach similar themesin totally different manners. "Last Day" has the high-concept suspense, drama & action lackingin Stone's "Gate." I found "Last Day" considerably more thought provoking & vastly more chillingin its execution. Where "Gate" waltzes around this fearsome subject, having trouble reaching its points, "Last Day" attacks it head on, with great energy & brilliance & delivers a far more satisfying experience.
