I've been using this cd pack for just a few hours & I'm amazed at how much I've been able to pick up & learn already. OK, it won't enable you to develop any real conversation or to discuss anything at any length, but it gives you some very handy basics & it's ideal for someone with no knowledge of Dutch at all, or at best, just a few words & phrases. Once you've mastered this then you can (and you'll need) to go on to something bigger, better & more complicated, butin the meantime, it's a very good & satisfactory way to start.

It was only seven weeks from receivng it that we embarked on a trip to the Netherlands, & let me say not only did I surprise myself but also my partner to my ability to converse there.

Taught me to be a 'Dutch'ess - By: H. Windridge, 08 Jan 2007 I really loved this language guide as it was simple to use & very efficient. I found the pronouncing of the language hard at first as I'd always done romantic languages like Spanish before, but this made it easier over time. I'm obviously not fluent yet, but I definitely feel a lot more sufficientin Dutch.
Great easy CD very useful! - By: R. Beaton, 08 Jan 2007 I used this before a trip to Brussells & found I had learned enough for basic conversations & also ordering food etc. It really made a difference to start off conversationsin Dutch even if after a couple of sentences we switched to English - everyone i met was impressed i had made the effort to learn some Dutch!
Just the job! - By: K. Waddington, 25 Sep 2006 This is a wonderful course! I played it on my personal CD player 3 times a week while at the gymn & found I could recite the dialogues before too long. It took 6 weeks at most. We went over to Flanders 2 months later & to my amazement I could buy petrol, order coffee & pancakes & the language the locals usedin reply was exactly what I'd metin the course! No, I couldn't discuss Belgian politics or the meaning of life, but my motivation to learn more with other TYS volumes on Dutch has soared. To be recommended without hesitation!
