This book is separated into six chapters with each taking one week to work through. Spending 45 minutes to an hour a day will help you learn & speak several hundred essential Japanese words & phrasesin just six weeks.
As a beginner myself I bought two or three books on Japanese before buying this one. In my opinion it is by far the best first book I think you can buy.

It has a different structure than the Teach yourself Beginners Japanese but as a matter of fact is intended for the same audience which are the beginners & has similar results.
Exceptional for beginners and basic for easy learning - By: mbuk15, 15 Aug 2003 This pack allows you to speak basic english without getting wayleyed by unnecessary pieces of information. This builds your knowledge & gets you ready to advance onto more complexity later on. I found this pack a great vhelp when i went on holiday as it allowed me to interact easily without being costantly bewildered & the pack doesn't rush you or give you too much information at once, i highly recommend it.
