Pure drivel - By: N. EVERITT, 29 Dec 2008
Yet again another attempt of a painfully poor, talentless Z list celebrity to cash in. Rather than create sympathy, it made me loathe this imbecile even more.
I almost wet myself... - By: Gillyp, 23 Dec 2008
It's that funny. I laughed out loud SO loud, so long, so often.
It's Russell Brand. It reads like Russell Brand -in fact, you can't really read it without hearing his voice narrating & very funny it is too.
If you reading this book, the chances are very good you're already a fan,in which case, there is little to dislikein this oftentimes tragic, painfully honest, laugh-out-loud tale of a dysfunctional life of self-destruction with its ultimate triumph of fame & fortune.
The story is very warts & all & the warts, they are huge & hairy, but then most of the people who pick up this book would expect no less & they won't be disappointed.
The simplistically titled My Booky Wook - By: Ms. L. Campbell, 22 Dec 2008
I've just finished reading My Booky Wook. Wow.
It's a beautifully eclectic mix of life experiences communicated poetically through the medium of language. Evocative, emotional & awfully educational (you don't learn about drug dealers, rehab, sex addicts, prostitutes & paedophiles every day) not to mention descriptively uproarious.
This raw & frank foray through his life is eye opening, poignant, side splittingly funny (I laughed out loud soo many times) & extremely well written . If you love him read it, & if you hate him read it twice ; )
Captivated until the final sentence! 5 stars ; )EVERYONE SHOULD READ `MY BOOKY WOOK'IT ROCKS!
Witty and revealing - By: Bookwormjo, 21 Dec 2008
Sometimes I think that the Brand/Ross telephone call furore was a publicity stunt, but obviouslyin these cynical times, I like to keep an open mind. Anyway, prior to that, I hadn't taken a great deal of notice of Brand's career, apart from watching him on tv shows such as HIGNFY & other panel shows, but I did start to check out his work & the man's a genius. Brand's autobiography is a good, solid read, butin many ways it's difficult to stomach some of the stuff he's done. He covers his early lifein surburban Essex with a light comedic touch, but the section when he begins his foray into the seedy world of drugs & illicit sex is a revelation, even though I was aware that he's now a reformed addict. You do get the impression that he's very ego-centric & his addictive personality has excused a lot of his odd behaviour over the years, but don't let that put you off from reading this witty tome. I enjoyed it immensely & would recommend it for people who are interestedin the orgins of famous people & like to find out how difficult it is to make a markin the fickle world of showbiz.
My favourite book to read whilst travelling - By: J. Fellows, 21 Dec 2008
It's true you don't need too muych brain to follow the plot although russel's use of language is absolutely fantastic. It made me laugh & is writtenin a way that feels like he is talking to you. Fun fun fun
