fatally flawed copy - By: T. Brown, 07 Jan 2009
I was thoroughly enjoying this book until it came to a point where nearly about 80 pages were missing.
Although i cant comment on every version of this book, the hodder version is missing pagesin the middle. If you do get this book i suggest you check it before you start reading.
I contacted hodder customer services about this, & they said that it has nothing to do with them as they just distribute the books. I feel like i have been shammed, as al i want to do is find out what happens next.
Other than this it was turning out to be a very good book.
Beautiful but flawed! - By: S. Pesante, 22 Jun 2008
I am a great fan of both Straub & King so I was surpised I had not read this & its sequel,"Black House" until now. Well I am glad I did! Both books are richin the intimate, non-apologetic attitudes & mindsets of the characters, evil or otherwise that Stephen King is known for. And Straub's elegant & dark imagination is well at play here.
The problem, & reason I give both books 4 stars, is the fact that on first contact with The Talisman" one gets the impression it is geared towards a younger audience. This is not so. Both these books are very, very adult. I'm not talking about sex scenes, deviant or otherwise, thoughin Black House that is certainly an underlying flavourin the story. I found the overall subject matter mature & adultin nature & complexityin both books. These are not stories for children, beware!
But if you are an adult & like getting that chill up your spine when you read a horror story then you've come to the right place. Come & get it!
