Tarzan returns to the jungle, rescues Jane & marries her- By: , 14 Sep 2000 This is the first examplein popular fiction of a "resolution" to a problemin a series of books, the problem being that Tarzan has lost Jane to his cousin, the current Lord Greystoke. Burroughs was at the height of his creative powerin the first decades of the twentieth century, creating the style that would ensure him a legion of followers through the century, & a legend that would stand the test of time. You are to a certain extent unprepared for the fact that Jane Porter & her fiancé are cast adrift following a shipwreckin almost the same place as Tarzan's parents, but the climax,in which Tarzan saves Jane from sacrifice at the hands of La, Queen of Opar, who wants the Ape-man for herself, is one of Burroughs' best. Ignore the many Tarzan films - none do the legend or the stories justice. Read the books - this is one of the bestin the series.
