Well-researched book that reads almost like a novel & covers a topic ignoredin the high school & survey college history courses I have taken. Furthermore, I couldn't help but admire Herbert Hoover, even though I have misgivings about his undertaking & personal character (unprincipled, dishonest, & manipulative at times). His strong, iron-willed direction of the Commission for Reliefin Belgium, his work ethicin keeping it afloat, & his skills as an executive & a manipulator of public opinion & government officials, are impressive.
