A gripping read - gives a real feel of life in Yemen- By: , 25 Jan 2002 I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Eric Hansen has a very appealing descriptive writing style. His story is autobigraphical, of an American returning to Yemen to retrive some diaries left there 10 years before.He describes the political, socio-cultural aspects so minutely that you could even believe that you are experiencing it for yourself. I particularly like his descriptions of the smells that he encountered on his trip & this adds depth to his already imaginative prose.
