Damien Broderick is both sf author & academic writer. Here he has put his eyes on postmodernist science fiction, especially Delany is his focus. However, he continually makes general statements about the sf field & makes the entire book useful for anyone interestedin academic writing on science fiction.

His most interesting contribution to the field is the idea of the 'mega-text', a field of signs & concepts which all sf writers & readres know & can employ with little need for explanation.
