Lacks a bit of meat - By: Mr Math, 12 Dec 2007
I have just read a reply review, from a "Dr Hogworth McCrombe", on my shoe review,in which he mocked my clearly impressive number of degrees, by writing that he had a total of 26 doctorates, including two PhDs, & a number of Masters. Clearly this review, was written with the evil that only those have no Dip O or MChem, can acheive. Now! This text by Pendrill, is okay, however, it lacks real substance, & has several galring errors, however, it is okay as an introductory text, to be read of an evening. I am currently teaching As History at Ashtead Wood Grammar school, for boys, & girls & boys at sixth form,in addition to teaching; Mathematics, Geology, Geography, Chemistry, Alchemy, Biology, Physics, & Studies of the General kind. So mock me, you unqualified reader, if you like, but I am afraid it does not wash with me, or Simkins the deputy head boy, who was throughly amused by this when I showed him YOUR review. A good foundation - By: 'Jose' Wright, 19 Feb 2007
This book gives you all the background you will need to study an AS/A2 course on Henry VII. It will provide you with hundreds of useful facts & introduce you to all the key-players of the period.
However, analytically it lacks substance. To write a quality answer, more than just Pendrill is required. In places it is extremely good, butin others it glosses over with worrying nonchalance.
Therefore, it is worth buying, but to achieve a decent grade, a history book is required, not just a textbook, such as this.
Not impressed! - By: , 31 Jan 2004
I felt that seen as this book was bought as an aid for my 6th form history studies, that it simply did not have the depth that is required from a text book for that level. Although it makes some interesting points, I did not feel that it was any more informative than the text books that I had used for my GCSEs.
