very enjoyable, but would really like to see claire getting vamped at the end of the series. I'll be dissappointed if she remains human to the end.

It would seem that Claire Danvers's life couldn't get any worse, what with livingin a college town that is also inhabited by vampires who wouldn't think twice about killing her, & having her parents pressuring her to move backin with them when she already lives with her three best friends.

But when Mr. Bishop arrives, things turn positively deadly.

No one's really sure what Mr. Bishop wants -- all they know is that he's more powerful than anyone, possibly even Amelie, & he lacks any good intentions. Everyone is on their guard.

Soon, everyone is buzzing about the upcoming formal ball, & all the humans are clamoring for invites, even Claire & Eve. But this is one party that the breathing might want to pass up.

FEAST OF FOOLS is an exciting, fast-paced, & chilling thriller. Ms. Caine has a real knack for combining a headstrong heroine, nicely creepy happenings, & a dash of romance & intrigue to bring about a knockout novel that'll stun, spellbind, & utterly captivate readers. There's a twist around every corner, & a cliffhanger that will leave readers
desperate for morein this wonderful series that's reminiscent of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

A word of caution: Once you start into THE MORGANVILLE VAMPIRES series, it's impossible to let go.

Relentlessly depressing - for the 4th time out in Morganville - By: J. Cooper, 23 Jun 2008
I like this series - if not I wouldn't be on book 4 of it - but they are such a downer. At the end of each you feel that surely things can't get worse - but they always can. I stick with them because I like some of the characters & I am always hoping, Pollyanna-style, that something good will happen.
As regards the specifics of Feast of Fools, Clare is pretty much the same geek, lusting after Shane (who nobly turns her down) & falling out with college-girl Monica & her gang as usual. Her life is complicated by the fact that her parents have moved into Morganville & thus get dragged into the vampires plots. Michael, killed by Shane's dad, is now a vampire & there are some good scenes where he is trying to deal with his need for blood which he is somewhat shamed by. Eve, the goth barista is stillin love with Michael but her psycho brother Jason (the one that stabbed Shane nearly to death) has a bigger role. Actually Jason is one of the most credible characters as is the mad vampire Myrnin, locked upin a basement so he doesn't slaughter Clare, while they work on dealing with the vampire disease that is killing all the Morganville Vampires through the bars. Amelie, former top dog of Morganville is now threatened by the arrival of her father, Bishop, plus his 2 vamp cronies (one of whom takes a shine to Shane) which actually serves to make Amelie more interesting, as she is vulnerable for the first time.
Where this series is going I have no idea - will the vampire disease be cured? Will the humans get to leave Morganville? I enjoy this series but there needs to be some light to contrast with the dark, or it just gets too same-y with all the gloom & doom. And did I mention that there is yet another cliffhanger at the end that leaves Shane as bait for Bishop?
