The ultimate Fag Hag! - By: Philip Thompson, 26 May 2008
A good idea & and good story but not a great book. I loved the concept & the story was good but if it wanted to be great it needed to be funnier & while extreme not as extreme as it should of been. This book should of been much camper & then it would have been what it could of been.
Good and Bad - By: , 04 Jan 2006
I am torn about this book. The plot taken by itself is fascinating, it is well thought out but then the praise must stop. The characterization is nonexistent, the writing is nothing short of poor & the ending was incredibly anticlimactic. This book was a perfect opportunity to introduce us to a character whoin her own way could have resembled Patrick Bateman, yet we meet a shivering neurotic mess of a woman, who while moderately successfulin other aspects of her life simply can not exist without a man.
In short the book was a good opportunity wasted, that said however I did enjoy it.
one for the summer holidays, sitting around the pool - By: , 19 Mar 2001
I was drawn to Robert Rodi due to his editor Robert Drake. His books have a familiar feel for those who have enjoyed the Tales of the City series by Maupin. Fag Hag, has similar over the top characters, & for those who have read his other books, "Kept Boy" & "Closet Case", you will not be disappointed. In fact, gay men will find many charactersin here from their everyday lives. The laughs are many, &in between there are even some moments that give cause for introspection... If you want perfect men, rugged out doors types, & the wonderful joys of eavesdropping on obsession then this is the book for you... A good one for sitting around the pool, & definitely a conversation started.
Frightfully funny!!! - By: , 26 Apr 1999
This is actually a rather eerie story. Why? Because of the way Rodi uses his words. It really get you into the tension & suspence of what is going to happen next. Natalie is actually quite pitiful, but I admire her sense of ambition. This is also the book that got me thinking: love actually exsists to THAT extent. For me, I read it through the night,(and that means no sleep!) & by the time I finished, I was blanked out. This is the book that gave me a serious view about gays & lesbians. That we are taking them too lightly. They are actually people who DO find love.
A must for all wannabee Fag-hags out there - By: , 24 Feb 1999
I read this book feeling sympathy for the character of Natalie & yet at the same time amazement because there is some of herin me & a lot of people I know. I suppose this is something that we are all just one tiny step away from. This is the first time I have read any of Rodi's books but I will be getting another.
