Padded or a cushion to save our fall ... you decide - By: Marshmallow, 04 Oct 2008
I have not read any of the other books by this author, so to me it was all new stuff. I do get the feeling from other reviewers that the author could have tired a little harder, & perhaps was riding on the back of `The Secret'. I agree with one of the other reviews that goes on to detail our own desire & that, perhaps, it is this that makes us unhappy, due to it leaving us unsatisfied. The text herein gives exercises & tips on overcoming blocks that limit our feelings & beliefs. I am well on my way to reading through a lot of these `self help' books, & this one by Joe Vitale does seem at odds with itself at times. I guess as I go through more of this author's collection of books I will get the message he is sending out.
A rambling affair - By: M. Norwood, 18 Sep 2008
This seemed to promise much, however,I found the content disappointing. It was unfocussed & seemed unsure as to what was being presented. Many of the chapters seemed to fizzle out with numerous references to other books etc which was annoying. One very contentious point towards the end of the book referred to how babies born with disabilities are deemed to have brought this on themselves by arriving with 'some pre-programming'!! at this point I had had enough.A poor effort.
"Quick money" device - By: Benedictus, 26 Jul 2008
This books contains some useful insights.
Still, it is very clear that it is just meant to be a quick way of multiplying the sales channels of what the author has already saidin other books; it comes so far as to partially consist of transcriptions of seminaries with much blabla & nothing that is not a repetition of what was already said.
Also not pleasing is the constant self advertising of the author & promotion of his other books, internet sites etc. A bit would still go if made with class & decency, butin my eyes this was not the case here.
Allin all, I would not spend the money again for this book & do not consider it a good investment.
useful to a degree - By: Janie, 07 Jul 2008
I liked aspects of this book butin the end I found its central message too ego-based. It's clear that many of us put limits on ourselves & that it can be beneficial for us to transcend those limits, but that needs to be balanced by an awareness of how desire is part of the problem, & how we can actually find contentment by stopping wanting things like success & wealth. Desire makes us unhappy because it makes us dissatisfied. So to some degree, we need to overcome desire. For a more edifying read, try Making Time by Steve Taylor Making Time: Why Time Seems to Pass at Different Speeds & How to Control It, which shows how you can control & expand time by filling your life with new experience & by livingin the present.
Complete waste of time - By: pl240596, 28 Jun 2008
This is my second attempt at writing a comment. My first attempt must have been too extreme.
I didn't like this book at all. Why?
Because it gives you false hope. I'll explain: Yes I believe that everythingin the Universe, including our thoughts, are connected. But the problem with books like The Key, The Secret, The Attraction Factor, are that you send out the wrong thoughts. The thoughts you are sending out to the Universe are 'I'm not satisfied with what I have. I want this, & I want that.' You are sending out thoughts of weakness. The thoughts you are sending are not your's but those of your ego. You are not empowering yourself with attaining your desires, you are livingin hope that the Universe will provide them for you.
This is how the law of attraction really works: You focus your attention on what you have at this moment - now. True happiness comes from within. When you are truly happy without the need for attachments the things you want will become attracted to you.
This book will temporarily lift your spirits. If your attractions come to you, you will thank the book. If they don't you'll end up extremely disappointed.
