Accessible on quantum optics but weak on interpretation.- By: , 15 Jan 2000 This is a very accessible, easy to read introduction to the recent developmentsin quantum optics & aspects of quantum field theory outside that of high energy physics. Chapters 1-17, therefore, are suitable for a graduate course, or advanced undergraduate, with a strong groundingin quantum mechanics. Unfortunately, the Chapters 18-21, on the interpretation of quantum theory are inaccurate & misleading. Issues such as the EPR paradox, Bell's theorem & the quantum measurement problem are badly misunderstood & their consequences misrepresented.
