Good Story - By: Steven R. McEvoy, 28 Nov 2008
I read this book for a university course, & I was surprised by the book. I did not expect to enjoy it but ended up enjoying it quite a bit. I actually found that I could not put it down. There are so many themes & issues coveredin the book. Like Matthewin the book, I found I fellin love with Anne & as Anne grew I was challenged to growth.
The themesin the book that grabbed me most were:
Importance of Trees
Importance of Naming
Death of hope
Prayers
Tears of healing
Belonging
Dreams
Alicein Wonderland References (Moral Duchess)
Looking Glass Friend
Sacred Memories
Self Naming "Anne of GG"
Desire to Fit In
Friendship
Time
Kindred Spirits
Anne being "All Spirit, Fire & Dew."
Etiquette
This book was so good that even though I only needed to read it for the course I ended up reading a few of the other booksin the series.
Sweet and sweet again. - By: Alana Parson, 10 Aug 2007
She's eleven years old. She's an orphan. She has imagination. She has red hair & frekles. She's Anne ( with an E.)
Anne Shirley goes to live with Marilla & Matheww cuthbertin the delightful home of green gables. She makes friends with Dianna Barry & she attends school.
All these books carry on her delightful life story, to school teacher, to college girl, to BA, to wife, to mother.
So sweet & a wonderful old classic every girl aged 10 - 100 should read.
