Oustanding material for beginners... - By: , 01 Jun 2002
The BBC produce by far the best beginners language courses, Espana Viva taking you from scratch to foundation GCSE standard without forcing you, being patronising or complicating it. Not as thorough as the Suenos series, but somehow more effective; clearly laid out, every point explained precisely with a good reference vocabulary section at the back. If you want a simple introduction to Spanish that gets to the point & doesn't waste any time, this is by far the best course on the market.
Excellent Starting Point! - By: strangem@myisp.co.uk, 16 Mar 2002
In conjunction with the tapes & work/exercise book Espana viva provides an excellent start to learning Spanish. I even managed to check into the hotel & order food (and more importantly drinks!)in Spain after using this book!
Excellent start for hesitant beginners - By: , 01 Oct 2001
I found this book great for beginning the road to learning a language. It starts very basic but over the chapters builds into a sound knowledge of beginner spanish. The exercises are easy to master &in conjunction with espana viva tapes pronunciation becomes easier. I have tried a number of times to grasp the basics of Spanish & this book has been the most successfulin making me feel it is possible, even for the most linguistically challenged.
