Boring - By: Gail Villar, 26 Aug 2008
I agree with the other reviews. This is certainly not up to his standard. The first one I have not enjoyed. Usually Lee Child's books are excellent.

Reacher Rubbish - By: D. A. Callow, 05 Aug 2008
Sorry to say it, but this one's a real duffer. Terrible plot, barely plausible characters & about 200 pages too long. It just ambles along without ever getting going. Like most here, I'm a big Reacher fan (read everything else) but this one really fails to hit the mark. In my opinion, Mr Lee is flogging the Reacher franchise way too hard. He needs to step off the gravy train for a serious length of time - maybe that way he'll get Reacher back on track.

Avoid this book.
is Reacher finished - By: Veets Reglov, 01 Aug 2008
The Reacher books ahve always been overhyped & overwritten. But they have always been fun & fast paced. Child used to keep the pace up & the energy high. I have alwasy felt his books are 50 odd pages to long though. This one was about 421 pages to long.

I can see Child now - looking at a map & seeing two towns... one nice & one nasty. Trouble is he forced a story into an idea & came out with a silly & tedious read, where subplots led nowhere & the climax wasn't a climax. It is poorly conceieved, lazily written & dull.

alot of his twists are predictable, that usally doesn't matter as the pace drags you to the conclusion which is always interesting & satisfying. There are three or four pants entriesin the series & Child needs to do something clever to resurrect our faithin Reacher...
It's just a fiction novel - don't buy it if you want War & Peace - By: Mr. S. L. Ellson, 28 Jul 2008
This is Jack Reacher doing what he does best. Sort of a non super-hero who picks up his uniformin a thrift store. Don't expect a Booker Prize winning novel but do expect something that you WILL enjoy & WON'T want to put down.

It may not be Lees bestin the series, but who's to judge - it's allin the eye of the beholder. I enjoyed it, as I have for everyone of them so far & there are many other authors such as Coben, Patterson, Cussler & Grisham that have similar threads & are just as enjoyable.

Just read it & enjoy.
Disappointed - By: HD, 21 Jul 2008
I always look forward to Lee Child's next book, but this was a great disappointment. The story did not hold my attention & I felt I was going up & down the road between the two towns, forever. The end of a weak plot let the book down. It's a great shame - I hope the next Jack Reacher lives up to all the earlier books which were such a good read.
