A Certain Slant of Light - Laura Whitcomb - By: N. Shaw, 11 Jul 2008
This book is,in short, beautiful. I loved every part of it, & the worst thing about it is that it simply isn't long enough. It's a quick read, but wonderfully written.
I loved the main characters, James & Helen & how they interact with a world that is not their own. Whitcomb is incredibly exploringin our contemporary families & modern viewpoints, & as she allows James & Helen to explore, I found myself more attached to them.
It's a really beautiful book; a romance/fantasy & I urge you to read it.
From my grandaughter aged 15 - By: Ice Maiden, 30 Jun 2008
Bought the book for my grandaughter, she has just sent me this message as a review:
I found it relaxing, i could get into it straight away, i wanted to finish itin one sitting, but had to pace myself otherwise i'd regret it later & not
have anything to read. Its written beautifully, Laura Whitcomb has a way with words & a knack for picking out good pieces of poetry that fit the
story line & character perfectly. When i finished the book i wanted to know how it felt to be light, like Helen.
worth a read - By: Ms. H. V. Armstrong, 31 May 2008
Many people who have written reviews of this book recommend it for people who have read the twilight series. I had finished reading the twilight series when i came across this book & thought it might be good. While it was a good read & i would recommend it to anyone searching for a good addition to their book case i would say that it is not as romantic as other books as sometimes the reader gets the feeling that the main characters are overly sexually active. However the contrasting backgrounds of the characters does make the book interesting enough with a couple of good twists throughout the storyline.
