A deep, soul-searching read - By: G. Browne, 03 Jan 2008
I bought this book months ago, started reading, & lay it down. Towards the end of '07 my heart ran to it, & I decided to complete once & for all. The more I read, the more I realised that I am not alonein the way I feel, & the experiences I've been through. It made me realise that it's left with me what I want & needin my life.
I learnt three uplifting pointsin this book:
1. Eagles fly alone, chickens flock together - & eagles eat chickens! (the value of knowing what I want & reaching for it without thinking of what people think or say).
2. Once I learn to trust & surrender, there's no need to explain myself to people.
3. The word 'desire' actually comes from the Latin meaning 'of' (de) 'the Father' (sire). It's liberating to know that most of the things I long for deep down, are actually what God wants for me. It makes me not feel so guilty about wanting what I want.
God bless, Sis. Keep it up.

I bought this book 4 years ago but never got round to reading it. Until 1 day I was so low i started to read this along with my bible. All I can say is WOW..what a difference I starting feeling even after reading a few pages. I began to feel so lifted, assertive, confident & totally at peace with myself especiallyin situations whichin the past would upset me & make me feel low for days on end. This book is a definite must havein your reading collection. Truly uplifting

A Wonderful Inspiring Book for ALL Women! - By: , 07 Apr 1999
This book was recommended to me by a black woman. She said it was a book for black women but it's really for all women. It will help you understand the misfortunesin your life & why we go through the same pain over & over again. When I started to read it, I found myself relating to a lot of the stories these women went through. And then she would explain why we choose the people we choose & why we go through it anyway when we know it's not good for us. I thought it was amazing. I have been recommending it to every woman I know ever since. It's an inspiring book & helps you become strong or stronger. It helps you empower yourself to controlling your life the way you would really want to live it. Definitely a book to read & havein your collection!
Like a cleansing, invigorating shower... - By: , 29 Mar 1999
Think of this book as the long way around the points givenin "Faith In The Valley": on one hand, if some of those weren't expained enough for you, this book breaks them all down. On the other hand, if you're impatient or have a short attention span, save it for a rainy day or the line @ the DMV. It's chock full of empowering points & lovingly explained, taking nothing for granted & guiding you all the way. "Value" is a treasure, & can actually help you get out of those ruts & start on your individual issues. Iyanla is like your favorite, non-judgmental aunt, & we're blessed that she's sharing her observations from the trenches with us. You GO Iylana: keep that knowledge flowing!!!
