The authors present a wide selection of historical manuscripts to inspire the modern calligrapher. They give an analysis of all the major hands from Roman times to C16th italic (nothing more recent) & then tell you how they can be re-created. The history & development of each script is described fully but clearly. Scholarly but readable. Lots of inspiration for the serious calligrapher.
