Ministry of Food - By: Jing Wang, 26 Nov 2008
Jamie's Ministry of Food is a book teaching you how to cook. I really enjoyed it & have started to cook by myself as well. It changed me a lot, especially for the one who rarely cook by herself. & it is easy to learn too, I never thought cooking could be that easy & enjoyable. Now I love cooking, & by watching all the dishes I finished, I'm so proud.
Inspiring - By: Foxylock, 24 Nov 2008
I have this book with a couple of months now & felt it unreasonable to post a review until I had tried some of the recipes.Well the time has come so here goes.
I'm delighted to own this book & I feel I will be using it on a regular basis for years to come. This book goes into detail with many of the questions I would be embarrassed to ask & the other cookbooks presume we know. Jamie takes us from the simple how to boil an egg to some exquisite stews, roasts & pies & for the more adventurous among us some paellas & curry dishes. Jamie makes it look easy & with this book for guidance it is easy. Well done Jamie Oliver & thank you.
Proper fuss free food. - By: Sentora, 22 Nov 2008
I got this book with the aim of getting my 14 year old to cook, however my husband hasn't put it down yet & he has made nearly every recipein the book. We needed to change the way we ate & this book has given loads of ways to do that. (In fact it was exactly the kick up the bum we needed to get away from ready made meals etc.)
Jamie, I want to thank you for writing this book!
Oh & I have given it away as a present... does that count for the pass it on???
Nice Idea, some of the recipes are very bland. - By: Mr. Jason J. Purvey, 21 Nov 2008
I enjoyed the TV programme & as I'm somewhat of a basic cook I decided to try the book. The book is well written & the recipes are very easy to follow, only problem is the taste! I've tried about six of the main courses &in there original state without adding extras, they're extremely bland. Would recommend "Can't Cook Want to Learn" if your a beginner & its much cheaper.
This is one I'll buy for friends - By: J. White, 20 Nov 2008
I hesitated for a while over buying this because I'm actually quite a decent cook & I own a lot of cook books already. I eventually bought itin the hopes that it would give me some good ideas for routine day to day meals & I was not disappointed. I particularly enjoyed the section on salads where the principle of salad construction & dressings are explained & the section on curries as these are something I've only bought as ready meals or take-aways before.
I'm definitely going to buy more copies of this book for friends who are less able cooks than I am as I'm confident they can pick up lots of basics from this.
