Having watched the excellent & informative TV series I decided to part with my cash & buy the book of the series.
I have not been disappointed, the dishes I have tried taste wonderful,in particular potatoes & onions roastedin half a bottle of balsamic vinegar! Awesome!
The combination of grow it then cook it works well.
This is one of the most honest, unpretentious "celebrity" cook books you could find, full of easy recipes bursting with flavour.
The book would make an excellent present to both an experienced cook & novice alike.
Absolutly superb.
The only drawback, I now want an ovenin the garden!
Great TV series, great book - By: David P, 16 Apr 2008 I think Mr.Oliver has hit on a real winning combinationin his new TV series - great recipes combined with handy beginner-gardener hints, & THANK GOD nice calm camera work that doesn't leave you feeling seasick & smacking the channel-change button after two minutes! This book is a great companion to the series, even if you don't have endless supplies of your own line of (expensive!) pans, olive oil delivered to your door by the tanker-load, & your own wood-fired blast furnacein the garden :-)
I never dreamed anyone would convince me to try making my own pasta, or to squeeze the meat out of sausages to make meatballs, but he has... & yes, it was fun!

I like this book. The information on how to grow veg is brilliant & makes me want to have a go, & I'm not a green fingered person at all.
I made the Eggy Breakfast Crumpets for my husband one lunchtime (It's the only Piece of "crumpet" he's allowed at home!), & it's one of the quickest, easiest & economical things to make & can be used as a meal for any time of the day.
My three year old twins took an interest to it & I made a total of eight crumpets for breakfast the following morning, omitting the chilli, using bacon & sausage & my daughter polished off nearly three of them! What a successfull recipe. We are looking forward to trying some more recipes very soon.
A great buy, and good fun. - By: S. Welch, 25 Mar 2008 I bought this book as I had been watching the TV series. The recipes are great & very easy & if you don't have any of the ingredients, I have missed a few things out & it still tasted great. The book itself is a lovely thing to have too, great graphics & Jamie has written about all of the veg he grows too, which has encouraged me to start my own patch. And that is quite something as I am not good as growing things!! He's made it really easy to understand & not too off putting!. A great book.
