This book (Chicken Licken) is just a shortened version of the movie - except with a different title. It has the same characters even though it misses a few. It has the same events but I think that this book has a lot less. The book actually came before the movie believe it or not. Pre-Schoolers would benefit from reading this book & probably enjoy it too. It has one word on one side & the opposite of it on the following page. Since this book is aimed at pre school/ nursery/ reception/ kindergarten children, it has big pictures & one or two words per page.
Favourite tale - By: Faye Carruthers, 04 May 2005
As a child I absolutely adored this & knew it off by heart, & if my poor parents, fed up of the story, tried to miss out drakey lakey or turkey lurkey I knew & made them start again from the beginning!
I'm definitely planning to buy this for my nephew once he is a bit older, he's currently only 4 months! Hopefully he will love it just as much as I did, & as much as I will love reading it to him, & we can start our own family tradition.
absolutely fantastic!!! - By: , 29 Oct 2004
My son absolutely adores this book & indeed all the other booksin the series. wonderfully worded & beautifully illustrated, it completely grabs his attention, & of course its just long enough to read before bed, so he doesnt have to go to sleep not knowing what happened!!
Fantastic story with bright pictures - By: , 24 Jun 2004
I have always loved the story of chicken Licken. It is about a chicken who is hit on the head by an acorn & thinks the sky is falling. He sets off to tell the king & meets many friends on the way. This "Read it yourself" version has about 20 words on each pagein big print. It also has lovely bright colour illustration on every page & a place at the front to write who the book belongs to. This is a perfect book to help your child learn to read with.
A Definite Favourite - By: Fairynuff, 04 Feb 2004
A well told, simply illustrated version of a classic tale.
My daughter requests this book every night before bed & loves to finish each page herself (although she can't yet read).
It's also not too graphic regarding what happensin the Foxy Loxy Family Lair at dinner time.
