Words form around the world at your fingertips!- By: , 06 Aug 2001 So, you want to learn a few Italian words? You need a way of making your Italian phrases better... you're just interestedin the world that is The Italian Language. Then, this book is for you. It's not a definitive guide or anything- far from it. It's merely a fun (and by that I mean, I read it for pleasure) way to familiarise yourself with a few Italian words & phrases. Divided into sections such as 'Getting up','In the Kitchen' & 'Travelling by plane & boat', the book show you a beautifully (or at least I think so!) picture, & the words come out from the picture- adjectives & nouns for the objects, verbs for what the characters are doing. On each page, the drawings are labelled. And then,in a box to the side all the words are reproduced with the English translation, which is incredibly handy. But the reason I haven't given this book the full five stars stems from the fact that the orderin which these words have been placedin the box sometimes seems to be a bit detached from the picure- or maybe just not the easiest way to read. But this is by no means a hindering factor. It's probably just as well as it slows you down a tiny bit! Pronounciation rules are at the front- though, it's always best to hear words spoken aloud- not that this guide isn't excellent. There's Grammar Hints & a Phrase Explainer, as well as a three-way index- English, Italian & pronounciation. I really like this kind of fun-to-read dictionary. I feel that anyone interested should give it a try becuase it's worth it. Molto bene!
