The book was deliveredin time. By the way, the First Thousand Wordsin Russian is excellent book for children with bright pictures. Also good for adults who study Russian as foreign language.
Not Just for Children! - By: S. Dawson, 30 May 2007
This book is not just for children, it is a great book for any adult learner as well. The pictures are clear & delightful & you soon find yourself picking up everyday wordsin Russian. Excellent addition to any language learning & great for building up your vocabulary.
Russian Vocab for Kids of All Ages - By: pticachelovek, 22 Feb 2004
One of a series of similar Foreign Language vocabularies, the Russian version would be a worthy addition to the study materials of a Russian Student of any age, looking to build basic & solid vocabulary. Numbers, colours, characteristics, clothing, parts of the body & everyday objects around the house, garden or street are just some of the wordsin the book.
Each item is labelledin Russian (with an English tranliteration) & whilst the odd one is a little difficult to determine what it is from the picture, there is a complete alphabetised Russian-English index.
There are a very small number of typographical errors, but nothing to deny a big 5 STARS for the surprisingly excellent book!
A great starting point - By: , 30 Jan 2004
While it's easy to dismiss this as a children's book & therefore too simple or basic, I've found that simple guides & children's books often provide the best foundations to build on when learning a completely new subject.
The cartoons provide the extra bit of fun that speeds up learning & helps you to recall the words. The words introduced provide a good spread of basic Russian nouns & give a good starting point for anyone who wants to move on to further, deeper study.
Excellent book for adoptive parents of Russian children! - By: , 23 May 1999
This picture book was great because we could look at it together with our Russian son. He helped us pronounce the wordsin Russian as we taught him the wordsin English. I highly recommend it for parents going to Russia to adopt. Very comprehensive. Great illustrations. (I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because it was lacking accentsin the pronunciation guide; hence I didn't know which syllable to accent for best pronunciation. I would recommend that the next edition show which syllable is accented; then it would certainly merit 5 stars!)
