Moved me to tears - By: Ms. L. C. Paine, 19 Jul 2008
Such a thought-provoking, yet enjoyable story with great insights into lifein Kabul before the Russians invaded & also after when the Taliban took hold. The characters & the events that unfoldedin this book will not be easily forgotten by myself & I cried at a couple of pointsin the story - something I very rarely do at literature. I hope you will love this book too.

Brotherhood and Redemption - By: Farah Yousif, 12 Jul 2008
I fellin love with Khaled Hosseini's novel `THE KITE RUNNER'; the story is sad, beautiful & inspiring. The writer relates the storyin a way that makes you feel like it's poetry.

This is a story of unconditional love, brotherhood & redemption setin Afghanistan.

Two young boys, Amir & Hassan are best friends livingin a household where Amir is the son of the rich owner of the house & the Hassan is the son of the house keeper; the class differences become an important factorin the story. The boys appear to have an inseparable friendship, reading stories together & flying kites.

An event occursin which Amir's strength of character & loyalty is tested. His actions, or lack there-of, will severely affect his & Hassan's life & they will never be the same again. Amir will be haunted with guilt because of the consequences of that fateful day for the rest of his life.

As a man, many years later, Amir discovers that there is hope, redemption is possible: `there is a way to be good again'.

excellent - By: Saffron, 01 Jul 2008
Knowing almost nothing about Afghanistan, I wasn't sure i would be able to identify with this book. But it really surprised me - I loved it. it is tragic, harrowing & hopeful all at the same time. A story of friendship, love, hurt, betrayal & redemption. The prose is highly evocative, & you can almost taste the streets of Kabul as you read. Definitely highly recommended - I almost didn't want to finish it, because then there would be no more of it to read.
