Inspirational - By: N. A. Robinson, 25 Aug 2008
Told with refreshing candour this is a true rags to riches story. Bannatyne makes it sound so easy to become a multi-millionaire; saying it basically boils down to hard work, confidence & absolute beliefin what you are doing & spotting the right opportunity. His attitude of "if they can do it, then why can't I?" really makes one believe anything is possible. A really inspirational & interesting book.
Entertaining and Revealing - By: Philip Graves, 15 Aug 2008
Duncan Bannatyne's book is fascinating & entertaining. The title is extremely apt, summing up the author's view that he hasn't relied on an unusual specialism or skill to achieve his success. However, Bannatyne's self-confidencein his judgment & ability to make decisions, whilst not inaccessible to most people, are perhaps far rarer than he believes.
That said, the accounts of his experiences are inspirational, & abound with lessons for us all.
His comments on the mentality of public listed companies make for fascinating reading.
An enjoyable, informative & inspirational book.
Not bad overall - By: Mr. J. Mellitas, 29 Apr 2008
Not a bad book overall. I don't really have an interestin reading about busines men with Casinos. Anyone can make a lot of money with a casinos as you will have gamblers addicted to it so what has this got to do with running a business successfully? You're making money from addicts. Easy money! I am actually a Dragon's Den addict. Sure, they're all millionaires & arrogant & the try to show it & can be quite contrasending times. Duncan however seems quite level headed although probably one of the most hesitanin terms of investingin any ideas. I enjoyed the book overall though & was not disappointed. This is a man that made his own luck. He started off seeling ice cream from an ice cream truck n had to build his businesses & that's hard work.
Biography not a business Book - By: G. Donohoe, 21 Apr 2008
I bought this book because it was advertised as good business book, its not, it's an excellent book about Duncans life & is a good read , but as book about his business it is not good.At one point he actually writes that "he is not giving his secrets away for the price of a book".
He has been very successful & is a serial businessman but I found the book lackingin detail as to how he managed it.
But it a good read & his story is well worth reading.
