Brian Michael Bendis = GENIUS!! - By: K. Hepworth, 28 Mar 2008
Brian Michael Bendis is easy one of my favorite writersin the comic world! This epic eventin the Marvel universe will change things forever!!
After Wanda Maximoff, daughter of Magneto, goes abit loopy her grip on reality is slowly slipping away. She tries to create realities which she thinks will be better for everyone. Ask yourself this, could you livein a world you knew was a lie even if it was what you wanted? Thats what our favorite X-Man Wolverine is faced with after the world is turned white! He sets out to find Prof.X & anyone else he thinks can help restore the world back to its original self.
In this story we have a cluster of marvel heroes all working together, even the dead ones make an appearance. Also a young girl who has the ability to show people the truth! Allin all an awesome story to get stuck into!!
A good story for a fresh start. - By: M. Lamprey, 06 Nov 2007
The Avengers & the X-Men have been called together to decide the fate of the Scarlet Witch, whose reality-altering mutant powers threaten the fabric of the Marvel Universe. First let me start by saying this,in my opinion is not a huge dramatic storyline, that said what does follow on from this story greatly effects the Marvel Universe as we know it. The artworkin this TPB is lovely, some of the best artwork i've seen of latein various Marvel titles, however ever changing artists means ever changing art! As for the characters i didn't feel a lot of depth, sure the same old Wolverine who (apart from a little girl) is the only one who knows something is wrong with reality, & has to set out (with the little girl) to 'remind' people of who they really are & not what the Scarlet Witch wants them to be. The story got a little boring by the time the story got to the 'No More Mutants' words whispered by the Scarlet Witch, which depowered almost every single mutant on the planet & erased the X-Gene. However what came after this though i think hasin my opinion greatly boosted the Marvel Comics Universe for the good, since M-Day i have loved reading the comics especially the X titles, the stories feel fresh & old characters & new are explored.
Due to the lack of character & somewhat sense of purpose of the story i don't feel it competes with such greats as X-Cutioner's Song or Fatal Attractions of the X titles. This is the perfect book to pick up & start with because it has rebooted the Marvel Universein a great way.
House of Awesome! - By: William Mclaughlan, 30 Aug 2006
This is a wicked comic.
It's pretty Twilight Zonein execution. Basically Wanda Maximoff alters reality & the X-Men & Avengers have to sort out the resulting mess.
The book opens strongly & continuesin this fashion. Much care has been taken to ensure that reader understands that there is a lot at stake here.
My only gripes are that there are a lot of characters (having not been reading comics for as long as I'm gussing Marvel's target audience have) who I don't know or would like to have seen more of - such as She-Hulk. Also the panel layout is very epic. Single panels often strech across both pages & it is often unclear as to what I should be reading next. This happened a lot to me through out the reading. I was reading down when I should have been reading across.
That said there is some really lavish artwork, such as Wolverine's daring motorbike jump across a junction & the first formal introduction of the House of M itself.
A really cool comic. I'd be very sad if the Hulk & Spiderman books just show the charactersin their alternate reality because I feel this story's strong enough to continue for a while on it's own.
I've ordered the Excalibur prelude from Amazon but it's taking it's time. I'd like to read that before I buy any of the later books. But I think I will get the next few since the first was so good.
This is definatly worth a read if you like this kind of thing.
ryans review - By: Ryan Mulholland, 25 May 2006
Wow,great story, great art work.Having only been reading x-men for 4 years, i found this new twist a bold refreshing move.
The story is based around Wanda Maximof (the Scarlet Witch, Whose powers have been rarely usedin recent x-men books)having a break down & putting the worldin jeopody. professor x calls a meeting of avengers (old & new) & the x-men,they decide something must be done .They decide to confront the Scarlet witch & the world changes, to a world were mutants rule & humans obey.
Good to see the Visionin the book, explains why Wanda was flirting with a machine at the end of The Ultimates 2.
