Excellent reference for those interested in WWII German armour - By: R. McTaggart, 12 Mar 2007
The companion to Tigersin Combat I, volume II is the completion of Schneider's history of the units & formations equipped with the Tiger tank. The approach is the same as volume I, with the chronology of each regiment presented, supported by some superb photographs. The book is completed by details of regiment equipment, organisation, camouflage & markings. A section of excellent colour illustrations by Jean Restayn provides those interestedin armour modelling with ideas aplenty. Overall, a superb book, which I highly recommend.
An excellent reference source for the serious reader - By: S. P. Magnus, 27 Apr 2001
This book is not for the general reader who expects detailed acounts of combat using the Tiger I's & II's. The details are one line entries for the major unit eventsin date order. For example, the combat history of Schwere Panzerabteilung 504, is coveredin 9 pages which covers from its formationin December 42 to its surrender to the Britishin May 45. Organisation information is givenin diagram form together with any revisions throughtout the units life.
Where the strength of this book lies, is the superb photographic coverage of the Tiger I's & Tiger II'sin action, on the march & at rest.
Whilst the price may seem high to some, the coverage with its diversity of photographs, gives a valuable source to anyone intrestedin this area.
Tigersin combat II - the second book, provides again a similar wealth of reference material,in the same format.
