a bit different - By: Mrs. L. M. Longshaw, 24 Mar 2008
I really like these cards. Yes, they have some unusual animals such as xolo, urchin & quetzal but they're very attractive & fun. We teach children duck, bird, parrot etc. as different types of birds so why not let them know alligator & crocodile?
As for unrealistic colours, how many books show animalsin different colours, what about Elmer? Have you ever seen a multi-coloured elelphant? No, but it doesn't matter!
Poorly thought out - By: M. Hall, 15 Nov 2007
When children learn they need simplicity & clarity. These cards are anything but. For example the card for letter "a" is an alligator which most children will recognize as a crocodile (How many adults know the difference? Try explaining this to a 3 year old!). The drawing for letter "x" is a "xolo". Hands up if you know what that is. While the animal drawings are "funky" they are confusing & misleading. For example the Hippo is blue, the kangaroo red, & the duck is yellow. Seen any yellow ducks lately? Don't waste your money on these - There are much clearer & instructive cards available for a much cheaper price.
