Mystics & Miracles: True Stories of Lives Touched by God- By: bdelan, 11 Apr 2003 This was such a refreshing book about some of the Catholic Church's most famous saints. Unlike many of the other saint collections, this book focused on the humanity of each saint showing their weaknesses & unique personalitiesin addition to their great miracles. For example,in the biography of Saint Teresa of Avila, Ghezzi told of how after being accidentaly thrown from her carriage on a rough, muddy road while rushing to the aid of an ill friend, St. Teresa angrily commented to Jesus that if that was how he treated his friends, it was no wonder that he didn't have many. This was just one of the many colorful storiesin this highly enjoyable book. Ghezzi also adds his own personal insights at the end of each biography which often cuts deep to the heart of what each saint's life can teach us about our own lives & faith. Finally, the book is jam-packed with tips on how to mediate, pray, & live the faith--many of which come straight from the saints themselves. I have passed this book on to many of my friends, & I highly recommend it to anyone interestedin learning more about the saints & the Catholic faith.
